Anti-Aging
Aging is inevitable for all of us but it is how we react to it that counts. Yes, aging is associated with functional changes that can affect our ability to focus and concentrate. BUT…this decline can also be associated with free radical damage to our system, nutrient depletion, poor lifestyle choices, environmental exposure and stress.
Some simple tips:
Aerobic exercise will increase blood to the brain and stimulate it. Thirty (30) minutes at least 5 times per week is ideal. It can be something as simple as a brisk walk. Walk with family or friends, make it fun.
Eating a nutrient rich, balanced diet will help all of us not matter who you are. Many of our foods have become nutrient and mineral poor so look carefully and what you are eating. I have had great feedback from a sea kelp (superfood antioxidant) and humic nutrient supplement that was recently released. I was cautious at first but there is a fair amount of science behind it.
The involvement of glutathione in aging has been known for quite some time. It is one of the most important elements of the “anti-oxidant defense system" and has been called "the master antioxidant”. Aging is characterized by a decline in physiological performance in many organs. Recent studies have shown that glutathione plays a key role in the protection against free radical damage associated with aging. Antioxidant supplementation may be a way to partially protect against age-associated impairment in performance. Glutathione precursors prevent, or at least delay, programmed cell death. Glutathione deficiency contributes to oxidative stress, which plays a key role in aging and many diseases (including, seizure, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, liver disease, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, HIV, AIDS, cancer, heart attack, stroke, and diabetes).
Keep learning! Find something you are interested in, perhaps take a class. Learning new things will keep you sharp.
Stop smoking.
Don't forget about a good night's sleep.
Watch the alcohol, 1-2 glasses per day in moderation.
Drink plenty of water so that you wash out the toxins in your system. Some feel that alkaline water is especially helpful in doing so. You can do your own research.
Do everything you can to ease the stress in your life. Don't sweat the small stuff. Often times it is how we REACT to the problem versus the problem itself. Learn some coping strategies to help you get through difficult times. Establish a network of your best friends and meet every week. Laugh, cry, share, eat and have fun.
Have a purposeful life. You have much to offer others. Help your family, a neighbor or volunteer. There are plenty of people that could use your help. You will be fulfilled.
